ClearRoad Guide is supported by display advertising, including Google AdSense. This page explains how that works and how it does — and doesn't — affect what you read here.

How I Make Money

I show display ads throughout the site. I am not paid by insurers to write about them, and I don't offer quotes, applications, or referrals to any specific insurer for compensation. Ads are served by an ad network; I do not select them, review them before they run, or know in advance which advertisers will appear. There is no editorial team here — this site is written by one person.

Ads Don't Set the Facts

Nothing an advertiser does changes what these guides say. Legal requirements come from the state agency that sets them, and every dollar amount on this site is a statutory limit or a fee that agency publishes. There are no premium figures here at all, which is the one thing an advertiser in this market would most want to influence — the Editorial Policy sets out exactly what standard each kind of claim has to meet. If an insurer named here also advertises somewhere on the internet, that has no bearing on how its pricing or service is described.

How Ads Are Marked

Ads are never styled to look like editorial content, navigation, or a link you might mean to click. Every ad on this site is placed by Google's automatic placement: the site defines no ad position of its own, so I do not choose where any unit lands, and any frame around one is Google's rather than mine.

That sentence is checkable rather than a promise. The code that would have defined positions of this site's own — an ad-slot component wired into the home page, the category indexes and four points inside every article — was deleted on 20 August 2026. What remains is the Google loader and nothing else, on the article and home templates and on section indexes that list at least four guides. It is not present on the 404 page, on the corrections log, on the author page, on any of the seven institutional pages including this one, or on the comparisons index, which currently lists two. A page with two links on it is not a screen I am willing to sell advertising against.

To be exact about one thing: the ads are not currently given a visible "Advertisement" caption. If you have found something on a page that looks like editorial content and turned out to be an ad, that is a bug worth telling me about through the contact page.

This page has described its own ad placement wrongly more than once. Those attempts, and what caused them, are recorded in the corrections log.
