Who We Share Data With

We don't sell personal information to data brokers. The data described above is shared only with the vendors we use to run the site:

  • Our hosting provider — processes standard server access logs (IP address, request details) as part of running the site; it doesn't receive any data beyond what's necessary to serve pages and keep the server secure.
  • FormSubmit (formsubmit.co) — the contact form on this site posts directly to FormSubmit, which relays the message to my inbox. That means the name, email address, message and page URL you submit are processed by FormSubmit as well as by me. If you would rather not use a third-party relay, email me directly instead of using the form.

We may also disclose data if required to by law, or to protect our rights or the safety of our users.

International Data Transfers

ClearRoad Guide is accessible worldwide, and some of the vendors above — notably Google — are based in the United States and may process or store data outside your country, including outside the EEA/UK if you're located there. Where that happens, it's covered by those providers' own safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses), which we rely on rather than negotiate individually.

Data Retention and Security

Under the federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. Several states — including California, Colorado, Connecticut, and Virginia — go further and require opt-in consent (not just an opt-out option) before selling, sharing, or using for targeted advertising the data of anyone a business actually knows to be a minor. Rather than track each state's exact age threshold, we apply one rule everywhere: we don't knowingly collect or use personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn we've collected data from a minor, we'll delete it — contact us at the address below to request that.
